Texas Roadhouse Rolls

Soft, fluffy rolls with a buttery flavor, perfect for any meal and served with cinnamon honey butter.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tablespoon water, warmed (about 105-115°F)
  • 6 tablespoons (75 g) granulated sugar, divided
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1 cup (245 g) whole milk, warmed (about 105-115°F)
  • 7 tablespoons (99 g) unsalted butter, melted, divided
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • 3 ½ cups (444.5 g) bread flour
  • ¼ cup (½ stick / 57 g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 tablespoons confectioners’ sugar
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix warm water with 1 tablespoon of sugar and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large bowl, combine warmed milk, melted butter (6 tablespoons), remaining sugar, salt, and egg. Stir well.
  3. Add frothy yeast mixture into the milk mixture and stir until combined.
  4. Gradually add the bread flour, mixing until a dough forms. Knead on a floured surface until smooth and elastic, about 6-8 minutes.
  5. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with towel, and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1-2 hours.
  6. Punch down dough and divide into 12 even pieces. Shape each into a roll and place in a greased baking dish.
  7. Cover rolls with a towel and let rise again for about 30-45 minutes until puffed up.
  8. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake rolls for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. While baking, make cinnamon honey butter by mixing softened butter, confectioners’ sugar, honey, and cinnamon until smooth.
  10. Once rolls are done, brush with remaining melted butter and serve warm with cinnamon honey butter.

Notes

Ensure water and milk are warm to the touch, not hot, to avoid killing the yeast. Customize with herbs or add-ins as desired.
