Description
Delicious bite-sized pinwheels filled with creamy spinach dip wrapped in flaky puff pastry, perfect for any gathering.
Ingredients
- 1 bag frozen chopped spinach (10 oz), thawed and squeezed dry
- 1 block cream cheese (8 oz), left out to soften
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional for heat)
- 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed but still cold)
- 1 egg (for brushing)
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix cream cheese, Parmesan, mayonnaise, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Stir in the squeezed spinach until well combined.
- On a floured surface, roll out the puff pastry and spread the spinach mixture over it, leaving one long side empty to seal later. Roll tightly like a jelly roll.
- Wrap the log in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes to firm up. Preheat the oven to 400°F.
- Slice the log into half-inch rounds and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Beat the egg with water and brush it on top of each pinwheel. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
Notes
Ensure to thoroughly squeeze out moisture from the spinach to prevent sogginess. Let the cream cheese soften for easy mixing, and don’t skip the chilling step for better slicing.
