Make-Ahead Breakfast Casserole

  • 6 cups bread, cubed
  • 12 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup shredded cheese
  • 1 pound breakfast sausage, cooked and crumbled
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 bell pepper, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: herbs and spices to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk. Add salt, pepper, and any additional herbs or spices.
  2. In a greased baking dish, layer the cubed bread, cooked sausage, onion, and bell pepper.
  3. Pour the egg mixture over the layers and sprinkle with cheese.
  4. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
  5. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake the casserole for 45-55 minutes, or until the eggs are set and the top is golden brown.
  6. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Use day-old bread for better texture. Customize with your favorite veggies or meats for added flavor.
