Homemade Cheesy Breadsticks

Delicious, warm, and cheesy breadsticks perfect for any meal or as a snack.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian herbs (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil; stir until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour.
  5. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  6. Roll out the dough into a rectangle on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  7. Brush with melted butter mixed with garlic and herbs.
  8. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese evenly over the top.
  9. Cut into breadstick shapes and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden.
  10. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

To store, keep in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or freeze wrapped in plastic.
