Ingredients
- 4 slices of thick bread (like brioche or challah)
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup brown sugar (for caramelizing)
- Optional: berries or powdered sugar for serving
Instructions
- In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, milk, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until well combined.
- Dip each slice of bread into the mixture, ensuring both sides are coated, and place in a greased baking dish.
- Pour any remaining egg mixture over the bread.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or overnight for best results.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake the French toast for 30-35 minutes until it is puffed and golden.
- Sprinkle the brown sugar evenly over the top and use a kitchen torch to caramelize it until it’s golden and crispy.
