Classic Christmas Toffee

A delightful crunchy and buttery toffee treat, perfect for the holiday season, topped with chocolate and nuts.

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (like walnuts or almonds)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
  3. Stir in the sugar, water, and salt, mixing well.
  4. Keep stirring until the mixture comes to a boil and turns a golden brown color, about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  6. Carefully pour the toffee mixture onto the prepared baking sheet and spread it out evenly.
  7. After a few minutes, sprinkle the chocolate chips on top while the toffee is still warm.
  8. Once the chocolate is soft, spread it evenly over the toffee with a spatula.
  9. Sprinkle the chopped nuts over the chocolate layer, gently pressing them in.
  10. Allow the toffee to cool completely, then break it into pieces and enjoy!

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two weeks. Monitor the temperature closely and aim for 300°F for perfect toffee.
