Christmas Morning Muffins

A festive breakfast tradition, these muffins are filled with holiday flavors like cinnamon and nutmeg, perfect for Christmas morning.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ tsp ground nutmeg
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup diced apples or cranberries (fresh or dried)
  • ½ cup chopped nuts (optional)
  • ½ cup mini chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a 12-cup muffin tin with paper liners or lightly grease.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. In another bowl, mix melted butter, buttermilk, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Gently fold in apples/cranberries, nuts, and chocolate chips if using.
  5. Divide batter evenly among the muffin cups.
  6. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Let muffins cool for 5–10 minutes in the pan, then transfer to a wire rack. Serve warm with butter or jam.

Notes

Don’t overmix the batter. Use fresh ingredients for the best flavor. Adjust sweetness according to your preference.
