Christmas Bread

A delightful sweet, fruity bread filled with the warm scents of cinnamon and vanilla, perfect for sharing during the holiday season.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet instant yeast
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup dried fruit (like cranberries, raisins, or mixed dried fruit)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine flour, yeast, sugar, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together milk, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
  4. Stir in the dried fruit.
  5. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-10 minutes, until smooth.
  6. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  7. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  8. Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf.
  9. Place it in a greased loaf pan and let it rise again for about 30 minutes.
  10. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.
  11. Let it cool before slicing. Serve warm or toasted.

Notes

Make sure your yeast is fresh and don’t rush the rising times for better texture.
