Chocolate Thumbprint Cookies

Delightful chocolate cookies with creamy ganache indents, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chocolate ganache (store-bought or homemade)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  4. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Roll the dough into small balls and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Make an indentation in the center of each ball using your thumb (or the back of a spoon).
  8. Fill each indentation with a small amount of chocolate ganache.
  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the cookies are set.
  10. Let them cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Chill the dough for a firmer texture and avoid overbaking.
