Brie and Cranberry Bites

Quick and delightful appetizer combining creamy brie cheese with sweet cranberry sauce, wrapped in flaky puff pastry.

  • 1 sheet of Puff Pastry (from a 17.3-ounce/490g package), thawed
  • 1 (8-ounce/227g) wheel of Brie Cheese, chilled
  • ½ cup of Cranberry Sauce (whole berry)
  • 1 large Egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon of Water (for egg wash)
  • ¼ cup of Optional Nuts (chopped pecans or walnuts, toasted)
  • Optional Garnish: Fresh rosemary or thyme sprigs, honey, or flaky sea salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cut chilled brie into 24 small cubes and set aside.
  3. Roll out puff pastry into a 10×15 inch rectangle and cut into 24 squares.
  4. Press each square into the cups of a mini muffin tin and place a brie cube in each.
  5. Top with ½ to 1 teaspoon of cranberry sauce, and sprinkle with nuts if using.
  6. In a bowl, whisk the egg and water for the egg wash. Brush the edges of the pastry with this mixture.
  7. Bake bites in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes until golden brown and flaky.
  8. Cool for 5-10 minutes before transferring to a platter, garnishing as desired.

Notes

To reheat leftovers, place in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 10 minutes.
