Bacon Egg Breakfast Casserole

A delicious and satisfying breakfast casserole layered with crispy bacon, fluffy eggs, and gooey cheese, perfect for gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk (whole or 2%)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 6 slices of cooked bacon, crumbled
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or your choice)
  • 4 cups cubed bread (sourdough, French bread, or whole wheat)
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder until well combined.
  3. In the prepared baking dish, layer the cubed bread evenly across the bottom. Sprinkle the crumbled bacon and shredded cheese over the bread.
  4. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread, bacon, and cheese. Press down gently to ensure the bread absorbs the egg mixture.
  5. Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the eggs are set and the top is golden brown.
  6. Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes. Garnish with chopped green onions if desired. Slice and serve warm.

Notes

Use day-old bread for better absorption. Customize with your favorite meats and veggies.
