Description
A delicious and simple classic Italian pizza topped with fresh tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, and basil.
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 3/4 cup warm water
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 8 ounces fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced
- Fresh basil leaves
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine warm water and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- Add flour, salt, and olive oil to the yeast mixture. Knead until smooth.
- Cover and let rise for about 1 hour until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 475°F (245°C).
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness.
- Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the dough.
- Top with mozzarella slices and season with salt and pepper.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the crust is golden brown.
- Remove from oven and garnish with fresh basil.
- Slice and serve hot.
Notes
For a crispier crust, use a pizza stone and preheat it in the oven before baking.
